Position Information
With many foreigners returning to their respective countries to start either new careers or to attend to family matters- Our University is once again offering job positions for English teachers for the next semester. Numerous vacancies are available (with a dozen already filled) to teach English as part of the university students' degree accreditation.

Our University is located on the Chinese mainland in Guang Dong province. It is approximately 300 km (186 miles) north east of Hong Kong. Mei Zhou is accessible by bus, train and plane.

Teaching Salary, Benefits and Accommodation:
*Travel allowance consisting of a yearly airfare reimbursement of 8000 RMB plus an additional 2000 RMB yearly travel stipend.

*Competitive salary starting at 658000Y (B.A), 870500Y (M.A), (9078500Y Ph.D) Up to 3 months paid vacations during contract period (see monthly salary for amount)

*Free apartment on campus with two bedrooms, a reading room, a sitting room, a bathroom and kitchen. It includes appliances such as a water heater, a washing machine, a refrigerator, furniture, a TV, an air-conditioner, a microwave-oven, a cooking stove, a telephone and a computer with free Internet access (torrent speeds can reach up to 900 KB/S).

*About the campus
The foreign teachers' building is situated across a small bridge in a small enclave providing a little bit of privacy while still being close to teaching buildings. Classes are typically taught in nearby buildings which are approximately five minutes away on scooter or ten to fifteen minutes on foot. Daily grocery shopping can be done at supermarkets and vegetable and fruit shops surrounding the campus. Meals are also available at the local dining halls and can be conveniently charged with a dining card. Mei Zhou is located half a day away from big cities, manufacturing hubs and ports so expect prompt deliver of items when doing on-line shopping on Tao Bao or Amazon China.

*About the city
Mei Zhou is a small city with a long wide river winding through it. The city has numerous small and big bridges. Mei Zhou is home to the Hakka people- an ethnic minority with their own architecture, cuisine and language (in addition to standard Mandarin). The city is filled with winding alleys, small shops, as well as street vendors that sell snacks, vegetables and fruit- all at relatively low prices compared to some of the larger cities. The city also has numerous supermarkets, gyms, restaurants, parks and boutiques. The city center is conveniently located within a short travel distance from campus (about 15-20 minutes). Scooters are the main source of transportation in Mei Zhou, but travellers can also use the local bus service, walk or cycle along the scenic roads.

*Weather
Mei Zhou is situated significantly inland (300 km north east of Hong Kong) which protects it from typhoons which strike the southern coastal cities. Expect hot weather in the summer and cold weather in the winter with very little transition time in between. Summer weather is ideal for swimming and outdoor activities. Vacations usually take place during a large portion of the winter period so that is an ideal opportunity to do some travelling. Hot weather and cold weather are typically regulated with air-conditioning and heating to compensate for any productivity loss.

*Nearby regions
Nearby areas are home to incredibly picturesque scenery. This includes areas such as the Ping Yuan region (mountain walkways), the historic and scenic Song Kou Port area and Yan Nan Fei Tea Plantation also known as 'Yearning Tea Plantation'. The popular Guang Dong morning and evening tea (served with bite-sized delicacies) should be especially rewarding for tea aficionados.

*Hong Kong and other cities
High- cost sprawling cities such as Hong Kong, Shen Zhen, Guang Zhou, Shan Tou and Xia Men are typically accessible by train, plane and bus. These cities offer additional tourist attractions in the form of museums, cuisine and scenery. Hong Kong also offers foreigners easy access to an international travel hub, as well as specialized services such as consulates, international banking and advanced dental and medical services when needed.

*Problems: Mei Zhou suffers from common problems found in China- but to a lesser degree. Construction sometimes creates dusty conditions and people often follow traffic rules haphazardly.
