Since opening in 2007, our school has become the largest English-immersion training centre in the city, with 3 dedicated sites and over 1800 students. We teach children of all ages and also run adult classes. All of our classes are taught by native English-speaking teachers, who are ably assisted in the classroom by our local Teaching Assistants.
Our foreign teaching team currently features 20 teachers from around the globe (The UK, The USA, Canada, South Africa and Australia), making for a diverse and fun working environment. We give full in-house training on the Shane curriculum to all new teachers, as well as on-going support and scope for professional development throughout your time here with us. We hold weekly workshops, covering a different aspect of teaching each time, so there is always the opportunity to share ideas and find new material for your classes.
We provide full working visas (Z Visas), and also provide assistance dealing with consulates as well as finding somewhere to live for every new teacher. Rent for a one-bedroom apartment is usually around 1,200-1,500 RMB a month. Our salary scale starts at a basic rate of 8,000 RMB a month, and goes up depending on experience and performance. Our contract is for 20 hours of teaching per week, with only 2 additional mandated office hours, usually used for training/feedback. Living costs here are low, and most teachers are able to save 3-4000 RMB on a monthly basis if they want, otherwise there is plenty of disposable income to spend on travelling and getting the most out of your experience in China.
Changzhou itself is a city of almost 4 million people, located in Jiangsu Province, right in the middle of the prosperous Shanghai-Nanjing corridor on China's east coast. It has lots of Western amenities as well as plenty of traditional Chinese features, and is only a short train-ride from Shanghai.
